Blanton Elementary is a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) campus. SEL teaches the skills that our students need in order to handle themselves, relationships, and work, ethically and effectively. These skills help our students manage their emotions, develop care and concern for others, make responsible decisions, and handle challenging situations.
Our teachers are trained on the SEL curriculum and work on the following five Social Emotional Competencies, in the classroom:
- Self-awareness
- Self-management
- Social awareness
- Relationship skills
- Responsible decision making
